Direct Trusted Agent accreditation ensures adherence to data processing standards and compliance with security infrastructure, integrity and trusted identity requirements
Austin, TX – June 22, 2017 –
IdenTrust (part of HID Global, a worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions), announced today it has achieved full re-accreditation with the Direct Trusted Agent Accreditation Program (DTAAP) for CA and RA from DirectTrust and the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). Direct Trusted Agent accreditation recognizes excellence in health data processing and transactions and ensures compliance with industry-established standards, HIPAA regulations and the Direct Project.
Through the consultative review process, EHNAC evaluated IdenTrust in areas of privacy, security and confidentiality; technical performance; business practices; and organizational resources as it relates to Directed exchange participants. In addition, EHNAC reviewed the organization’s process of managing and transferring protected health information and determined that the organization meets or exceeds all EHNAC criteria and industry standards. Through completion of the rigorous re-accreditation process, the organization demonstrates to its constituents adherence to strict standards and participation in the comprehensive, objective evaluation of its business.
“Backed by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), the Direct Trusted Agent Accreditation Program ensures IdenTrust has established and upheld a superior level of trust for their stakeholders,” said Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC. “With the undeniable need in the healthcare marketplace for guidance and accountability in how health data is exchanged, we congratulate IdenTrust’s commitment to achieving the highest standards in privacy, security and confidentiality.”
America is facing a national public health crisis around prescription drug abuse. Additionally, the need for healthcare professionals to share patient medical records and data in a private and secure manner is at a record high. To address these issues, IdenTrust enables secure healthcare information exchange through offering complete identity solutions for eHR/eMR applications, Health Information Service Providers (HISPs), Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), pharmacies, practitioners and patients.
IdenTrust initially achieved Direct Trusted Agent accreditation in August 2015. “By achieving re-accreditation, IdenTrust is able to continue providing health information exchange communities with identity assurance and management capabilities and products to support secure and interoperable data sharing via the Direct protocol,” said Dr. David C. Kibbe, President and CEO of DirectTrust. “IdenTrust has proven their integrity and experience through participation and leadership of DirectTrust workgroups and committees and offers an excellent value to customers through extension of that experience.”
“IdenTrust is pleased to have met the rigorous standards required to achieve re-accreditation for issuing digital certificates under the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC),” said Vishvas Patel, VP, IdenTrust Global Business Segment. “By providing digital certificates that are accredited by DirectTrust and that are also cross-certified with the U.S. Government Federal Bridge Certification Authority, IdenTrust provides the gold standard for trust in healthcare information exchange.”
